It is a legal requirement for children to attend school. If a child is absent or late for any reason, a written note or verbal reason must be provided to the school. Parents can advise each day their child is absent from school by:
  1. Calling the school on 9234 6350
  2. Respond to Compass Link sent for an absent student
  3. Emailing their child’s name, class and absence reason to Gosnells.PS@education.wa.edu.au
  4. Provide a written note on his/her return to school explaining the absence.

Holidays

Family holidays are encouraged to be taken during the school holidays and not during school terms.  When you child is absent from school on family holidays this is recorded as an unacceptable reason.  Parents must write a letter addressed to the Principal and hand this letter to the office.  The Principal will read the letter and decide on whether to grant approval.

Late arrival and early departure from school

The starting time is 8:30am.  If students arrive after the siren at 8:40am they must go to the front office where they will be marked as late and given a Late Pass to present to the class teacher.

If your child needs to be collected from school early, an ‘Early Release’ form must be completed at the front office when you arrive and handed to the teacher when you collect your child.

Students are deemed to be at risk by the Department of Education if their attendance is below 90%.
